Remember those orange push-up ice creams of your youth? The ones with the cute poke-a-dot wrappers?

When it comes to this smoothie, all I can say is wow... Smooth, creamy, and so much like an orange push-up ice cream that it's almost scary. To get any closer in taste, you would have to buy one of the actual ice creams. While I don't really like the idea of using regular white sugar, I decided to follow the recipe exactly as written, to see if it turned out as promised. It did I'm glad to say. I will be experimenting with it some to see if I can use another sweetener that is more healthy. Maybe Stevia? Don't forget to freeze the leftovers if you have any, it makes a delicious dreamsicle type ice cream. Yum.
Orange Push-Up Smoothie
1 can orange juice concentrate, slightly thawed
1 cup milk (half and half, cream, nut milk, coconut milk)
1 cup sugar, or to taste (you can reduce the sugar or use an alternate sugar substitute such as Stevia but it won’t taste as close to classic Orange Push-Ups)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups ice
Combine all ingredients in a large blender or Vita-Mix (I used my food processor) and blend until smooth and creamy. If desired, add a splash of water, more milk, or more ice if your mixture is thicker than desired.
Makes approximately three eight-ounce portions.
