Ranch Dressing Mix

In my quest to heal my body, I am turning more and more to what I eat as a means to get there. As I've mentioned in my blog before, I recently discovered I am suffering from, Lupus, Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I'm doing lots of research on them, and I am finally seeing that what I eat has a lot to do with how my body functions. On that note, I am doing away with all processed foods in my diet, and sticking to whole foods. It hasn't been easy, but I am slowly making the changes necessary to get there. One site I find a lot of helpful info on is at Heavenly Homemakers. Laura shares her transformation to a healthier lifestyle, and it has been very beneficial to me. The only thing I cant do is eat whole grains, which is what Laura encourages us to do. While that is good advice, I am unable to eat any kind of grain. There are a lot of other options available, so it will all work out in the end. Here is one of the many recipes of hers I will be sharing as I continue on my quest of eating better. Ranch Dressing Mix. It makes a delicious salad dressing, and is much fresher and healthier for you then the store bought kind. Healthy eating isn't so bad after all.

Ranch Dressing Mix

5 Tablespoons dried minced onions
7 teaspoon parsley flakes
4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix together and store in an air tight container.
For dressing: Mix 2 Tablespoons dry mix with 1 cup mayonnaise (I use Hain Safflower mayo) and 1 cup buttermilk or sour cream.  (I use buttermilk.)
For dip:  Mix 2 Tablespoons dry mix with 2 cups sour cream or kreme fresh.
*Mix up a few hours before serving, so the flavors all blend nicely.

I too switched and started making my own mixes too, because of health reasons. Of course the doctors never told me that. They were all too ready to put me on some prescriptions!

Isn't that the truth Sandra! I'm on 9 different medications right now, with maybe more in my future! I am hoping my change to a healthier diet will help me get rid of some of them.

First off, the fressing mix looks perfect! I'm sorry that your body is suffering so. I think it's fabulous that you're healing your body with healthy foods, bodies can be very forgiving if you let them be. I personally am a witness that eating healthy and natural foods can make a person feel incredably healthy and strong when they were previously weak and sickly. Keep it up, you have my support. Thank you Miriam. It helps me a lot, knowing there are others out there who have successfully healed there bodies by eating healthier foods. I've been seriously following a whole foods diet for 2 weeks now, and have already lost 8 pounds. Plus I don't have the severe swelling in my feet and legs like I did before. Those two things alone tells me that I am definitely heading in the right direction.
