Crock Pot Soup Beans 'Pintos'
Nothing brings back comfort food memories from my childhood faster than a pot of pinto beans. It’s so simple. You can leave the house all day and come home, make a pan of corn bread, fry some potatoes up and there you have it, a Southern meal that will warm your stomach and your heart both.
Crock Pot Soup Beans 'Pintos'
1-1 lb. bag of beans
3 slices bacon, a ham hock, or some chopped leftover ham
1 tablespoon sea salt
Water
Sort through beans and remove any pebbles or bad beans. Place beans in a large bowl and cover with about 2 inches of water. Soak them over night, drain, then place in a crock pot with bacon and cover again with about 2 inches of fresh water. Turn the temp to High and cook 1 hour, then turn temp down to LOW and let cook for another 7 to 8 hours, or till beans are tender but not mushy. Add salt during the last hour of cooking.

These sound great! I made a big crock pot full this week, but we made beans and rice and added some mexican type seasonings. Next time we will have to have cornbread with them...so cheap and good!
I've never had pinto beans like that before....we don't do a lot of southern foods here...might be something I need to try one day!
This one of my favorites, but we call them "Okie Beans"!
We love pinto beans. We call them Soup Beans. We use leftovers for "refried beans" and make burritos or nachos with them.
We do here to Candi, I don't know why I didn't post them as that. On my way to change it...
Candi~ Did you get the reply I sent you about how I cook my beans? That's how I decided to write this post.
yes i did :) thanks so much...i love to read your comments, they make my day...really :)
I love pinto beans! Definitely one of my favorites! Thanks for linking up for Friday Favorites!
Would this work with 15 bean soup beans? Also, is there another alternative to ham, we don't do ham.
It sure can be made using 15 bean soup beans. Without the bacon though, you'll need to up the spices on it to get good flavor. Try adding 1 tsp. each of thyme, basil and oregano, along with 1/2 tsp. pepper. Also add a chopped onion and a couple cloves of chopped garlic. If you make it, come back and let me know what you thought of it. I love getting feed back.
